1. I can actually enjoy the taste of alcohol. Provided it's white wine and I don't have much of it. Who knew.
2. Asking "is there anything else I can do" is a stupid, stupid thing to do.
3. I shall forget that particular lesson tomorrow, I am sure.
4. Sensible shoes are the way to go. No matter how prettier the heels are.
5. Bonding over terrible shoes, however, is definitely a way to make new friends. Suffering in the name of slender ankles is apparently universal.

October 4th
1. You can run but you can't hide from Durkheim and Weber.
2. Thinking of starting a drinking game for every time Durkheim and Weber are mentioned in any of my classes.
3. Quickest way to coast through the academic year. And drink oneself into unconsciousness during the first week.
4. Sadly, I don't drink. Oh, well.
5. New five year plan: find a way to monetize serving as a help desk for all new, lost students. They have puppy dog eyes and no idea what USOS is, or where to find the loo.

October 3rd
1. It costs 0.5 zl to rent a wineglass and 6 zl to break one.
2. Sometimes you feel more self-conscious about your facebook post than about the fact that your shirt unbuttoned on its own and you've been displaying your bra to everyone walking down three consecutive streets.
3. Sometimes people smiling at you aren't just NICE. (points 2 and 3 are related, whaddya know.)
4. Even when you're in your mid-twenties, the first day of classes feels a little magical and a little anxious at the same time. With the sun shining and all the people smiling (before you learn the reasons for the smiles) and your ipod providing a suitably cheery soundtrack, it all feels like a prelude to a musical number with synchronised dancing from all the newly arrived students. It's not, but it doesn't stop you from doing a little bit of jazz hands every once in a while.
5. New blogs ideas are fun. First post of what I hope will be a themed series. Hi, net people :)
